Product Care

To keep your barkworth Reeve piece in tip condition we'd recommend the following:

Cleaning & Care
Leather

Looking after your new leather bag isn’t difficult, it just comes down to regular TLC. This will ensure it looks fabulous for years to come.

  1. Wipe it down with a soft cloth to remove daily dust.
  2. When not in use store in its dustbag somewhere cool and dry, sfuffed with acid free tissue paper away from direct sunlight.
  3. When it needs a deep clean empty it out, brush off any dirt, and lightly clean with a damp cloth or baby wipe before drying it naturally.
  4. Every few months, a small amount of leather balm will keep the leather soft and supple. We use Renapur (they doon't sponsor us!) it's just a brilliant product which will help your bag age beautifully.
Cleaning & Care
Tweed

Looking after your tweed bag is simple; you just need a gentle approach to make sure the fabric looks its best.

  1. A quick brush after use will lift away dirt and dust. Make sure you brush in the direction of the weave. Alternatively, you can lightly vacuum with a brush attachment.
  2. If you get a mark, lightly dab it rather than rub, using a little cool water or wool-friendly cleaner. Allow to air dry
  3. Tougher oil spots can be lifted out with baking soda. Sprinkle the powder on the stain, allow it to sit for 10 minutes to absorb, then brush or vacuum off gently with a soft-bristled brush.

When not in use store in its dustbag somewhere cool and dry, sfuffed with acid free tissue paper away from direct sunlight.

Cleaning & Care
Waxed Canvas

Waxed canvas is tough and naturally water resistant, but it needs a bit of TLC to preserve the waxed finish.

  1. A light brush will remove everyday dust.
  2. For marks, use a lightly damp cloth with cool water, keeping soap to a minimum and avoiding any harsh rubbing, then allow it to air dry naturally away from heat so the coating stays intact.

If it gets very wet (as shown here!), just blot the excess off and allow to air dry.

Cleaning & Care
Raffia

Looking after your raffia straw bag is mainly about keeping it dry (these natural fibres don’t like too much moisture).

  1. A gentle brush will lift away dust. Make sure to follow the weave direction. Alternatively, you can lightly vacuum with a brush attachment.
  2. For marks and spots, use a lightly dampened cloth in lukewarm water and mild soap (test first); wipe gently without soaking.
  3. If you’ve got a stubborn stain, dab with a diluted white vinegar solution using a toothbrush, then air dry fully.

When not in use store in its dustbag somewhere cool and dry, sfuffed with acid free tissue paper away from direct sunlight.

Cleaning & Care
Canvas

Looking after your canvas bag is straightforward. It’s a hard-wearing fabric, but it will still benefit from a little gentle care.

  1. A gentle brush will lift away dust and dirt. Alternatively, you can lightly vacuum with a brush attachment.
  2. If you get a mark, lightly dab it rather than rub, using a little cool water and mild soap. Allow to air dry
  3. Tougher oil spots can be lifted out with baking soda. Sprinkle the powder on the stain, allow it to sit for 10 minutes to absorb, then brush or vacuum off gently with a soft-bristled brush.

Cleaning & Care
Knits

Knits require care to keep their shape and softness.

  1. For spot cleaning, gently wipe with a damp cloth and let it air dry.
  2. Should your knit needs a proper clean, soak it in lukewarm water with a little wool-friendly detergent. Press gently, then rinse in cool water without twisting. If your knit has a faux fur pom, try not to soak it. If the pom get wet, let it air dry and then lightly tease the pile back up. A gentle blast with a cool hair dryer will also help.
  3. Roll it in a towel to remove excess water, reshape it while damp and leave it to dry flat away from heat.
  4. Store it unstretched, and dry in a breathable place.
